I am an avid history reader and I have found the History By Mail letters to be hidden gems. They find unusual primary source documents that tell the story of a subject from a unique angle. I loved seeing Rosa Parks' police report from her arrest which included her fingerprints, or the original check used to purchase Alaska. This is a very good service that I highly recommend.

Learning directly from the primary sources, such as a letter from Abraham Lincoln in his own handwriting, makes it much easier for me to teach history than just assigning reading homework from textbooks.
